Installation Procedure
- If required, install a NEW engine coolant thermostat and engine coolant thermostat housing. Refer to Engine Coolant Thermostat Replacement , and Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Replacement .
- Insert two water pump to engine retaining bolts (1) at each end of the pump, place the new gasket of the bolts and use this as a guide to install the pump.
- Install the water pump (2).
- Install and tighten the remaining water pump to engine retaining bolts (1) and tighten to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
Tighten the bolts at final pass to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
- Install drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement - Accessory .
- Install the outlet hose to the water pump. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement .
- Install the inlet hose to the water pump. Refer to Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement .
- Install the heater hoses (1) to the water pump (2).
- Install the engine drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory .
- Install the air outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .
- Install the ground battery lead to the vehicle. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
- Inspect cooling system for leaks.
- Connect the battery ground cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
NOTE:
Ensure all mating surfaces are clean and free of grease.
