Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON.
Verify the Parking Assist Control Module Parking Assist Switch scan tool parameter changes between Active and Inactive while pressing and releasing the parking assist switch.
- If the parameter does not change between Active and Inactive
  Refer to Circuit/System Testing - Parking Assist Switch Circuit Malfunction.
- If the parameter changes between Active and Inactive
Verify the parking assist switch indicator turns On and Off while commanding the Parking Assist Control Module Parking Assist Switch LED On and Off with a scan tool.
- If the indicator does not turn ON and OFF
  Refer to Circuit/System Testing - Parking Assist Switch Indicator Circuit Malfunction.
- If the indicator does turn ON and OFF
Transmission in R.
Verify the Parking Assist Control Module Calculated Transmission Range scan tool parameter is Reverse.
- If the parameter is not Reverse
  Refer to Backup Lamps Malfunction (Automatic Transmission)Backup Lamps Malfunction (Manual Transmission) .
- If the parameter is Reverse
Transmission in R.
Verify the scan tool Parking Assist System Status parameter displays Enabled.
- If the parameter is not Enabled
  Refer to Diagnostic Aids to determine the cause.
- If the parameter is Enabled
Ignition ON, transmission in R for 5 s, then transmission in Drive, no objects near the front or rear of vehicle, verify there are no beeping tones for park assist.
- If there are park assist beeping tones
  Inspect the front park assist senors for proper installation and verify they are clean of debris.
- If there are no park assist beeping tones
Ignition ON, transmission in R, no objects near the front or rear of vehicle, verify there are no beeping tones for park assist.
- If there are park assist beeping tones
  Inspect the rear park assist senors for proper installation and verify they are clean of debris.
- If there are no park assist beeping tones
All OK.
