Installation Procedure

    Fig 1: Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket Nut

  1. Loosen Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket Nut (1) @Catalytic Converter (2)

  3. Install a NEW gasket.(2)
  4. Pre install the NEW catalytic converter clamp (1) to the catalytic converter (3).

    NOTE:

    A second technician is required.

  6. Unsupport the powertrain unit (1) and push the powertrain unit (1) against driving direction to get access for the catalytic converter installation.

  8. Install Catalytic Converter (3)

  10. Install Catalytic Converter Stud (2) - Do NOT tighten.(Qty: 2)
  11. Install Transmission Mount Strut Bracket

  13. Install Catalytic Converter Stud (2) - Tighten 9 N.m (80 lb in)
  14. Install Catalytic Converter Brace Nut (1) - Do NOT tighten.(Qty: 2)
  15. Lower the vehicle.

  17. Position the NEW catalytic converter clamp (1) and tighten to 6 N.m (53 lb in)
  18. Raise the vehicle.

  20. Catalytic Converter Brace Nut (1) - Tighten 22 N.m (16 lb ft)

  22. Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket Nut (1) - Tighten 22 N.m (16 lb ft)
  23. Lower the vehicle.

  25. Catalytic Converter Clamp (1) - Tighten 25 N.m (18 lb ft)

  27. Install Catalytic Converter Heat Shield (1)

  29. Install Catalytic Converter Heat Shield Bolt (1) and tighten 9 N.m (80 lb in)

  31. Install Exhaust Temperature Sensor(1) and tighten 45 N.m (33 lb ft)

  33. Install Turbocharger Heat Shield (2)
  34. Install Turbocharger Heat Shield Nut (3) and tighten 9 N.m (80 lb in)
  35. Install Turbocharger Heat Shield Bolt (1) and tighten 9 N.m (80 lb in)

    NOTE:

    Do NOT bend the cable sharply at the base of either the sensing unit or sensor ECU in the final mounting position.

  37. Install Nitrogen Oxides Sensor (2) and tighten 50 N.m (37 lb ft)
  38. Raise the vehicle.

  40. Install NEW Exhaust Front Pipe Gasket (3)
  41. CAUTION:

    Do not bend the exhaust flex pipe more than 10 degrees in any direction. Bending of more than 10 degrees or twisting in a range of ±0.5 degrees will damage the exhaust flex decoupler.

  42. Install Exhaust Front Pipe (1) @Catalytic Converter (2)
  43. Install Exhaust Front Pipe Nut(4) and tighten 22 N.m (16 lb ft)

  45. Install Catalytic Converter Heat Shield Bolt (1) and tighten 9 N.m (80 lb in)

    NOTE:

    Mind the different hose diameters.

  47. Install the 2 exhaust pressure differential sensor hoses (2) to the exhaust pressure differential sensor pipes (3).
  48. Install Clamp (1)
  49. Install Front Compartment Insulator Front Compartment Insulator Replacement
  50. Lower the vehicle.
  51. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  52. When the replacement is completed, use a scan tool to perform the appropriate reset functions. DPF Reset
