Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
- Remove Nitrogen Oxides Sensor (2)
- Remove Turbocharger Heat Shield Bolt (1)
- Remove Turbocharger Heat Shield Nut (3)
- Remove Turbocharger Heat Shield (2)
- Remove Catalytic Converter Heat Shield Bolt (1)
- Loosen Catalytic Converter Clamp (1)
- Remove Exhaust Temperature Sensor (1)
- Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- Remove Front Compartment Insulator Front Compartment Insulator Replacement
- Loosen Clamp (1)
- Remove the 2 exhaust pressure differential sensor hoses (2) from the exhaust pressure differential sensor pipes (3).
- Remove Catalytic Converter Heat Shield Bolt (1)
- Remove Exhaust Front Pipe Nut (4)
- Remove Exhaust Front Pipe (1)@Catalytic Converter (2)
- Remove Exhaust Front Pipe Gasket (3) and DISCARD
- Remove Catalytic Converter Heat Shield (1)
- Remove Transmission Mount Strut Bracket
- On vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission:Transmission Mount Strut Bracket Replacement
- On vehicles equipped with a manual transmission:Transmission Mount Strut Bracket Replacement (1.4L LE2)Transmission Mount Strut Bracket Replacement (1.6L Diesel LH7)
- Unsupport the powertrain unit (1) and push the powertrain unit (1) against driving direction to get access for the catalytic converter removal.
- Remove Catalytic Converter Brace Nut (1)
- Remove Catalytic Converter Stud (2)
- Remove Catalytic Converter (3)
- Release and support the powertrain unit.
- Remove Catalytic Converter Clamp (1) and DISCARD
- Remove and DISCARD the gasket.(2)
NOTE:
Do not bend the cable sharply at the base of either the sensing unit or sensor ECU in the final mounting position.
NOTE:
Mind the different hose diameters.
CAUTION:
Do not bend the exhaust flex pipe more than 10 degrees in any direction. Bending of more than 10 degrees or twisting in a range of ±0.5 degrees will damage the exhaust flex decoupler.
NOTE:
A second technician is required.
