Installation Procedure

  1. Position the intermediate steering shaft in the vehicle through the passenger compartment and secure the intermediate steering shaft seal.
  2. Install Intermediate Steering Shaft at Steering Column

  3. Install Intermediate Steering Shaft Upper Bolt (2)
    1. Clean the threads of the bolt with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
    2. Apply thread locking adhesive to the bolt. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 
  4. Install Intermediate Steering Shaft Upper Nut (1)
    5. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  5. Tighten Intermediate Steering Shaft Upper Bolt (2) to 50 N.m (37 lb ft)
  6. Install Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Replacement

  7. Install Intermediate Steering Shaft (2) at Steering Gear (3)
  8. Remove the CH-42640  anti-rotation pin.

  9. Turn the steering wheel to the left as necessary to install the intermediate steering shaft lower bolt (1).
  10. Install Intermediate Steering Shaft Lower Bolt (1) and tighten to 50 N.m (37 lb ft)
    1. Clean the threads of the bolt with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
    2. Apply thread locking adhesive to the bolt. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
