Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the EVAP Vent Solenoid Valve.
- Ignition ON, test for B+ between the EVAP Vent Solenoid Valve circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If less than B+, test the EVAP Vent Solenoid Valve ignition voltage circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 2 and the EVAP Vent Solenoid Valve circuit terminal 1 voltage circuit.
- Command the EVAP vent solenoid valve ON with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K 20 Engine Control Module.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K 20 Engine Control Module.
- If all circuits test normal
- Test or replace the EVAP Vent Solenoid Valve.
