Installation Procedure

If replacing the exhaust manifold, install the heated oxygen sensor. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Sensor 1 .

CAUTION:
Do not use solvent of any type when cleaning the gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly, as damage to the gasket surfaces and throttle body assembly may result.

Use care in cleaning the gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly, as sharp tools may damage the gasket surfaces.
Install a NEW exhaust manifold gasket (7) to the cylinder head.

CAUTION:
Refer to Fastener Caution .

NOTE:
After tightening the five bolts in the order shown, the 1, 6 position designates that the first bolt tightened is to be retightened to specification.
Position the exhaust manifold to the engine and tighten the fasteners to 33 N.m (24 lb ft) in the sequence shown.
Install the exhaust manifold support bracket (4) and tighten the fasteners (3) to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
Connect the electrical wiring harness connector to the heated oxygen sensor (9).
Install the exhaust manifold heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement .
Install the exhaust front pipe. Refer to Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement .
