Removal Procedure

  1. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief 
  2. Disconnect Battery Negative Cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  3. Drain fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining 
  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  5. Remove Underbody Rear Air Deflector. Refer to Underbody Rear Air Deflector Replacement
  6. Remove Underbody Front Air Deflector - Left Side. Refer to Underbody Front Air Deflector Replacement - Left Side
  7. Fig 1: Evaporative Emission Rear Hose, Fuel Tank Filler Hose, Vent Pipe, Electrical Connector, Retainer And Clamp

  8. Disconnect Evaporative Emission Rear Hose (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service 
  9. Close all open connections with the EN-6015  plugs.
  10. Disconnect the fuel tank fuel pump module wiring harness electrical connector (2).
  11. Open the retainer (6).
  12. Disconnect Fuel Tank Filler Vent Pipe (3). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service 
  13. Close all open connections with the EN-6015  plugs.
  14. Loosen Clamp (5)

  16. Remove Fuel Tank Filler Pipe Ground Bolt (1)

  18. Remove Fuel Tank Filler Hose (4)

  20. Disconnect Fuel Feed Pipe (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service 
  21. Close all open connections with the EN-6015  plugs.
  22. Remove rear coil springs. Refer to Rear Coil Spring Replacement

  24. Reinstall the lower shock fasteners (2) to the shock (1) without the coil springs.
  25. Support the rear axle with a suitable jack stand.

  27. Remove and DISCARD the 3 right side axle bracket bolts (1).
  28. Remove Washers (2) (Qty: 3)

  30. Loosen the 3 left side axle bracket bolts (1). Do not remove the bolts at this time.

  32. Lower the front (1) of the axle and position rearward enough to allow the fuel tank to be removed.

  34. Support the fuel tank with a suitable jack (3).
  35. Remove the 4 fuel tank strap bolts (2, 4).
  36. Remove Fuel Tank Straps (1) (Qty: 2)

    NOTE:

    A second technician is required.

  38. Move the fuel tank (1) rearwards until there is enough space between the fuel tank (1) and the fuel tank strap bracket (2).
  39. Lower the fuel tank (1) slowly using the suitable adjustable jack (3).
