Installation Procedure

    NOTE:

    Applying force to the plastic housing of the sensor may damage the sensor. To tighten or loosen, apply force only to the attached hexagon.

    NOTE:

    Ensure that the fuel rail threads have been cleaned of any excess fuel, or the NEW fuel injection fuel rail fuel pressure sensor will NOT seal properly.

  1. Lubricate the threads and sealing surface of the NEW fuel rail pressure sensor with one drop of clean engine oil.
  2. Install the NEW fuel rail pressure sensor (1) to fuel injection fuel rail (3) and hand tighten.
  3. Install Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Fuel Pressure Sensor (1) @ Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly (2)
  4. Re-lubricate with one drop of clean engine oil.
  5. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution

  6. Install and tighten Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Fuel Pressure Sensor (1) to 32 N.m (24 lb ft).
  7. Connect the electrical connector (2).
  8. Install Intake Manifold Cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement »Install
  9. Connect Battery Negative Cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  10. When the replacement is completed, use a scan tool to perform the appropriate reset functions. Refer to Control Module References .
  11. Inspect for fuel leaks using the following procedure:
    1. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
    2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    3. Ignition On/Vehicle In Service Mode & Engine Off
    4. Inspect for fuel leaks, using tissue paper or hydrocarbon sniffer.
    5. Start vehicle and re-inspect for fuel leaks with engine at idle.
    6. Re-inspect for fuel leaks with engine at 3,000 rpm no load.
