Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Dual Battery) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Single Battery) .
    2. Fig 1: Support Cross Brace Fasteners And Support Cross Brace

  2. Remove the support cross brace fasteners (1) and remove the support cross brace (2), from above the battery.

  3. Open the battery positive cable clamp cover (1) and loosen the battery positive cable clamp fastener (2).
  4. Remove the battery fuse block (3) and set aside.

  5. Remove the battery retainer fastener (1) and remove the battery retainer (2).
  6. Reposition the radiator surge tank without draining the coolant. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (L83 L86)Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (L96) .
  7. Remove the battery (3) from the vehicle.
