Steering Column Replacement

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement
  2. Place match marks on the steering column shaft and the intermediate steering shaft to aid in installation.
  3. Separate the intermediate steering shaft from the steering column. Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement 
1 Steering Column Nut (Qty: 4)
CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .

CAUTION:

This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.


Procedure 
Remove and DISCARD the nuts.
Tighten 
22 N.m (16 lb ft)
2 Steering Column

Procedure

  1. If replacing the steering column, copy the match marks from the OLD steering column to the NEW steering column.
  2. If replacing the steering column, transfer components as necessary.
  3. Center the steering angle sensor. Steering Wheel Angle Sensor Centering
