Installation Procedure

  1. Position the intermediate steering shaft (2) and seal in the vehicle by carefully guiding into place from under the instrument panel.
  2. Align the match marks and connect the intermediate steering shaft to the steering column shaft.
  3. Apply NEW threadlocker to the intermediate steering shaft bolt (1). Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 
  4. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  5. Install the intermediate steering shaft bolt (1) and tighten to 36 N.m (27 lb ft).

  7. Push the intermediate steering shaft seal (1) into place and ensure all the retaining clips are secure.
  8. Raise the vehicle.

  10. Connect the intermediate steering shaft (2) at the steering gear.
  11. CAUTION:

    This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.

  12. Install the NEW steering gear coupling bolt (1) and tighten to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
  13. Install the front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
