Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF. Disconnect the harness connector at the S2R Transmission Manual Shift Switch. It may take up to 2 min. for all vehicle systems to power down.
  2. Test for less than 5 ohms between the ground circuit terminal 2 and ground.
    • If 5 Ω or greater
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Test for less than 2 Ω in the ground circuit, wire end to wire end.
      • If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the wire circuit.
      • If less than 2 Ω, repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection.
    • If less than 5 Ω
  3. Ignition ON.
  4. Test for 11.6-12.4 V between the signal circuit terminal 1 and ground.
    • If not within the specified range
    1. Ignition OFF. Disconnect the X3 harness connector at the K9 Body Control Module.
    2. Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit and ground.
      • If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground in the signal circuit wire.
    3. Test for less than 2 Ω in the signal circuit, wire end to wire end.
    • If greater than 2 Ω, repair the open/high resistance in the wire circuit.
    • If less than 2 Ω, replace the K9 Body Control Module.
    • If within the specified range
  5. Test for infinite resistance between terminal 1 and terminal 2 of the S2R Transmission Manual Shift Switch - Right.
    • If less than infinite resistance

Replace the S2R Transmission Manual Shift Switch - Right.

    • If infinite resistance
  6. Test for 624-644 Ω between terminal 1 and terminal 2 of the S2R Transmission Manual Shift Switch - Right, with the switch closed.
    • If not within the specified range

Replace the S2R transmission Manual Shift Switch - Right.

    • If within the specified range
  7. Ignition OFF.
  8. Disconnect the harness connector at the S2L Transmission Manual Shift Switch - Left.
  9. Test for less than 5 ohms between the ground circuit wire terminal 2 for the S2L - Transmission Manual Shift Switch - Left and the ground circuit wire terminal 3 for the S2R Transmission annual Shift Switch - Right.
    • If 5 Ω or greater

Repair the open/high resistance in the ground circuit wire between the 2 switches.

    • If less than 5 Ω
  10. Ignition ON.
  12. Test for 5480-5500 Ω between terminal 1 and terminal 2 of the S2L Transmission Shift Switch - Left.
    • If not within the specified range

Replace the S2L Transmission Manual Shift Switch - Left.

    • If within the specified range
  13. Test for 1360-1380 Ω between terminal 1 and terminal 2 of the S2L Transmission Manual Shift Switch 2, with the switch closed.
    • If within the specified range

      All OK.

    • If not within the specified range
  14. Replace the S2L Transmission Manual Shift Switch - Left.
