Removal Procedure
- Disconnect Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (with KL9)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (without KL9) .
- Relieve the fuel system pressure Fuel Pressure Relief .
- Remove Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe Replacement .
- Disconnect Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose at Throttle Body - Reposition away Refer to: Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube Replacement .
- Disconnect Fuel Feed Front Pipe (1) Refer to: Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
- Remove the 2 engine control module and engine wiring harness bracket bolts (2).
- Hang the engine control module and engine wiring harness bracket (3) aside.
- Disconnect the electrical connector (2)
- Remove Fuel Pump Insulator (3) at Fuel Injection Pump (1)
- Loosen the 2 fuel injection pump bolts (4) alternating in steps of 1/2 turn.
- Remove Fuel Injection Pump Bolt (4) (Qty: 2)
- Remove Fuel Injection Pump (3)
- Remove the valve lifter follower (1)
- Remove Fuel Injection Pump Gasket (2) and DISCARD.
CAUTION:
Alternately loosen the fuel pump bolts one turn at a time until the pump is fully disengaged from fuel pump lifter follower. Trying to remove the pump bolts without even side-to-side loosening may result in pump plunger damage
NOTE:
Take care that during removal of the fuel injection pump the valve lifter follower (1) does not fall apart.
