Installation Procedure

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Caution .

  1. Position the power steering gear inlet hose (1) in the vehicle.

  2. Install a NEW power steering gear inlet hose O-ring seal (2).

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    NOTE:

    The position of the rubber isolation tube (3) against the steering gear housing casting (4) is critical to the performance of the power steering gear inlet hose (1).

  3. Connect the power steering gear inlet hose to the steering gear. Position the rubber isolation tube against the steering gear housing casting. Tighten the fitting to 34 N.m (25 lb ft).

  4. Install a NEW power steering gear inlet hose O-ring seal (1).
  5. Connect the power steering gear inlet hose (2) to the power steering pump and tighten the fitting to 34 N.m (25 lb ft).

  6. Install the power steering gear inlet hose bracket bolts (1) and tighten to 7 N.m (62 lb in).
  7. Install the front tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  10. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle.
  11. Remove the drain pans.
