Installation Procedure

Position the intermediate steering shaft in the vehicle through the passenger compartment and secure the intermediate steering shaft seal.
Intermediate Steering Shaft @ Steering Column» Install
Intermediate Steering Shaft Upper Bolt (2)» Install

1. Clean the threads of the bolt with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
2. Apply thread locking adhesive to the bolt. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants and Sealers
Intermediate Steering Shaft Upper Nut (1)» Install
Intermediate Steering Shaft Upper Bolt (2)» Tighten 50 N.m (37 lb ft)
CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .

Intermediate Steering Shaft (2) @ Steering Gear (3)» Install

Remove the CH-42640 anti-rotation pin.
Turn the steering wheel to the left as necessary to install the intermediate steering shaft lower bolt (1).

Intermediate Steering Shaft Lower Bolt (1)» Install and tighten 50 N.m (37 lb ft)
