Front Axle Lubricant Replacement

- Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Ensure that the vehicle is level.
- Remove the steering gear skid shield. Refer to Steering Gear Skid Shield Replacement (without ZR2)Steering Gear Skid Shield Replacement (with ZR2) .
- Remove the drain plug (1).
- Drain axle fluid into a suitable container.
- Install the drain plug and tighten to 32 N.m (24 lb ft).
- Remove the fill plug (1).
- Fill the drive axle with the proper fluid. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations .
- Inspect the fluid level. Refer to Front Axle Lubricant Level Inspection .
- Install the fill plug and tighten to 32 N.m (24 lb ft).
- Install the steering gear skid shield. Refer to Steering Gear Skid Shield Replacement (without ZR2)Steering Gear Skid Shield Replacement (with ZR2) .
- Lower the vehicle.
