Removal Procedure

    WARNING:

    Refer to Hot Exhaust System Warning .

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Dual Battery) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Single Battery) .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

  3. Remove the fastener (1), securing the generator battery control wiring harness cable (2), to the starter (4).
  4. Disconnect the engine wiring harness connector (3) from the starter (4).

  5. Remove the lower fastener (1) and the upper fastener (2), securing the starter shield (3).

  6. Remove the starter shield (1) from above the starter.

  7. Remove the starter mounting fasteners (1) and remove the starter (2) from under the vehicle.
