Removal Procedure

WARNING: Refer to Brake Dust Warning .
  1. Remove the quarter lower rear trim panel. Refer to Quarter Lower Rear Trim Panel Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the rear wheel speed sensor connector (1) and release the connector retainer from the rear wheelhouse.

  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  4. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  5. Release the rear wheel speed sensor grommet (1) from the rear wheelhouse panel.

  6. Carefully feed the harness and connector through the rear wheelhouse panel.
  7. Release the rear wheel speed sensor harness from the clips (1) on the rear wheelhouse panel.

  8. Release the rear wheel speed sensor harness from the rear axle clips (1).

  9. Release the rear wheel speed sensor harness clips (1) from the rear brake hose.

  10. Without disconnecting the hydraulic brake flexible hose, remove the rear brake caliper and support with heavy mechanics wire. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Replacement .
    CAUTION: Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire or equivalent, whenever it is separated from its mount and the hydraulic flexible brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the caliper in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the caliper, which may cause damage to the brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.
  11. Clean the wheel speed sensor mounting area on the suspension knuckle of any accumulated dirt and debris.
  12. Remove the wheel speed sensor bolt (1).

  13. Remove the wheel speed sensor from the parking brake anchor plate and remove the wheel speed sensor.
