Removal Procedure
WARNING:
Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning
.
CAUTION:
Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Caution
.
CAUTION:
Always connect or disconnect the wiring harness connector from the EBCM/EBTCM with the ignition switch in the OFF position. Failure to observe this precaution could result in damage to the EBCM/EBTCM.
- Place the transmission in PARK.NOTE: The transmission must be in the PARK position, the power button in the OFF position and the brakes not applied to ensure the brake modulator and high pressure accumulator (HPA) pressure relief occurs. This process will take approximately 1 to 3 minutes.
- Place the power button in the OFF position.
- Remove the remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter and close all of the vehicle doors.
- Wait approximately 3 minutes for the HPA pressure relief to occur.
- Remove the front bumper impact bar. Refer to Front Bumper Impact Bar Replacement .
- Remove the drive motor battery coolant radiator assembly. Refer to Drive Motor Battery Coolant Radiator Replacement .
- Release the brake pressure modulator valve return hose clip (1) from the differential drive motor cooling hose.
- Release the brake pressure modulator valve feed hose clip (1) from the differential drive motor cooling hose.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Remove the left front compartment splash shield. Refer to Front Compartment Splash Shield Replacement (Front) , Front Compartment Splash Shield Replacement (Middle) and Front Compartment Splash Shield Replacement (Rear) .
- Disconnect the electronic brake control module (EBCM) electrical connector.
- Remove the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) assembly upper bolt (1).
- Remove the BPMV assembly lower bolt (1).
- Remove the BPMV assembly nut (1).
- Maneuver and position the BPMV assembly to allow access to the brake pipe and brake pressure modulator valve hose fittings and secure the BPMV assembly with heavy mechanics wire.
- Disconnect the brake pressure modulator valve return hose quick connect (1).
- Disconnect the brake pressure modulator valve feed hose quick connect (1).
- Disconnect the brake pressure modulator valve brake pipe fitting (1).
- Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect the brake pressure modulator valve front brake pipe fitting (1).
- Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect the brake pressure modulator valve rear brake pipe fitting (1).
- Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect the rear brake front pipe left brake pipe fitting (1).
- Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect the rear brake front pipe right brake pipe fitting (1).
- Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Remove the BPMV assembly from the vehicle.
- If necessary, remove the EBCM. Refer to Electronic Brake Control Module Replacement .
- If necessary, remove the BPMV bracket. Refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Bracket Replacement .
