Installation Procedure

  1. Position the intermediate steering shaft (2) and seal in the vehicle.
  2. Align the match marks and fully connect the intermediate steering shaft to the steering column
  3. Apply NEW threadlocker to the intermediate steering shaft bolt (1). Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
    4. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  4. Install the intermediate steering shaft bolt (1) and tighten to 36 N.m (27 lb ft).

  5. Push the intermediate steering shaft seal (1) into place and ensure all the retaining clips are secure.
  6. Raise the vehicle.

  7. Connect the intermediate steering shaft (2) to the steering gear.
  8. Install the steering gear coupling bolt (1) and tighten to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
  9. Install the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
