Installation Procedure

    NOTE:
    • Do not damage the ECM bracket retainers (2).
    • Listen for an audible click to confirm correct installation of the ECM bracket retainers (2).
  1. Install the ECM (3) to the ECM bracket (1).

    NOTE:

    Do not damage the engine wiring harness electrical connectors (2).

  2. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connectors (2) to the ECM (1).
  3. Lock all the engine wiring harness electrical connectors (2) to the ECM (1) by lowering the engine wiring harness electrical connector levers (3).
    4. NOTE:

    Listen for an audible click to confirm correct installation of engine wiring harness electrical connector retainers (4).

  4. Lock all the engine wiring harness electrical connector retainers (4) on the engine wiring harness electrical connectors (2).
  5. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary Battery)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary Battery) .
    6. NOTE:

    Update the service data of the NEW ECM with the recorded data if necessary.

  6. Program the ECM. Refer to K20 Engine Control Module: Programming and Setup .
  7. If an ECM programming error is encountered such as "Starting Disabled, Remove Key" on the driver information centre, with a diagnostic test code (DTC) P1631, perform the "10-Minute relearn procedure" found in programming theft deterrent control module programming and setup. Refer to Control Module References .
  8. Turn OFF the ignition for at least 5 seconds after the ECM programming is complete.
  9. Use the scan tool to clear all DTCs.
