Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the strut assembly. Refer to Strut Assembly Removal and Installation .
- Install an appropriate spring compressor (1) on the front spring (2). Ensure the hooks on the compressor are seated on the spring correctly.
- Mark the front spring upper seat (4) in relation to the strut unit.
- Compress the front spring (2) until the front spring upper seat (4) has clearance at the front spring insulator (3).
- Use the appropriate tools to remove the strut mount nut (1) while holding the strut piston shaft.
- Remove the front suspension strut washer (2), strut mount assembly (3), front suspension strut mount retainer (4) and front suspension strut mount bearing (5).
- Slowly release the spring compressor tool and remove it from the strut assembly.
- Remove the upper front suspension strut shield strap (1). Discard the strap.
- Remove the front suspension strut bumper (1), front spring upper seat (2), upper front spring insulator (3) and front spring (4).
- Remove the lower front suspension strut shield strap (1). Discard the strap.
- Remove the front suspension strut shield (1) and lower front spring insulator (2) from the front suspension strut (3).

WARNING:
Do not attempt to remove the retaining nut from the strut piston shaft before compressing the spring. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in serious personal injury.
WARNING:
The spring compressor must have a minimum capacity of 1000 kg (2205 lb). Failure to comply with this requirement may result in serious personal injury.
