Installation Procedure
- Install the lower front spring lower insulator (2) and front suspension strut shield (1) on the front suspension strut (3).
- Install a NEW lower front suspension strut shield strap (1).
- If installing a replacement front spring, check that the front spring is the correct type for the suspension system fitted to the vehicle. Identification of the front spring fitted to a particular vehicle can be achieved by cross-referencing the two digit code provided on the production identification tag with the data in the fastener tightening specifications table. Installing the incorrect front spring may adversely affect the wheel alignment and/or the ride and handling characteristics of the vehicle.
- The front spring insulator and front spring upper seat have a step which aligns with the straight projecting end of the front spring. The step must be correctly orientated in relation to the front spring.
- When installing the front spring the correct alignment of the front spring with the front suspension strut assembly requires the mark on the front spring upper seat to be 180" to the clevis on the front suspension strut.
- Install the front spring (4), upper front spring insulator (3), front spring upper seat (2) and front suspension strut bumper (1).
- Install a NEW upper front suspension strut shield strap (1).
- Install an appropriate spring compressor (3) on the front spring (2). Ensure the hooks on the compressor are seated on the spring correctly.
- Install front suspension strut mount bearing (5), front suspension strut mount retainer (4), strut mount assembly (3) and front suspension strut washer (2).
- Use the appropriate tools to install the strut mount nut (1) while holding the strut piston shaft and tighten to 75 N.m (55 lb ft).
- Install the strut assembly. Refer to Strut Assembly Removal and Installation .
