Installation Procedure

  1. Position the strut assembly (4) on the vehicle and connect the assembly to the steering knuckle.
  2. Install the front suspension strut washers (3), bolts (2) and nuts (1). Tighten the fasteners until they are snug and the strut assembly does not shift, but do not tighten the fasteners completely.
  3. Lower the vehicle.

  5. Align the strut assembly with the vehicle and position the front suspension strut bumper stop assembly (3).
  6. Use the appropriate tool to hold the strut piston shaft and install the front suspension strut mount nut (2).
  7. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  8. Tighten the front suspension strut mount nut (2) to 55 (40 lb ft)
  9. Install the front suspension strut cap (1).
  10. Raise the vehicle.
  11. Connect the front brake hose to the strut assembly. Refer to Front Brake Hose Replacement .
  12. Connect the front wheel speed sensor to the strut assembly. Refer to Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement .
  13. Connect the front stabilizer shaft link to the strut assembly. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .
  14. Install the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  15. Lower the vehicle until it is resting fully on the ground.
  16. Bounce the vehicle several times to settle the front suspension.
  17. Check and adjust the front wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement .

  19. After the wheel alignment has been performed, tighten the front suspension strut buts (1) to 100 N.m (74 lb ft) + 90 degrees.
