Fuel Pump Replacement

Callout Component Name

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Remove the fuel pump insulator. Refer to Fuel Pump Insulator Replacement .
  2. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  3. Remove the fuel pump intermediate pipe. Refer to Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe Replacement . Install a NEW fuel pump intermediate pipe.
  4. Disconnect the fuel pump fuel feed hose from the fuel pump. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
Special Tools EN-50790 HP  Fuel Pump Installation Alignment GaugeFor equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .
1 Fuel Pump Fasteners (Qty: 2)
CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .


Tighten 
15 (11 lb ft)
2 Fuel Pump Gasket
NOTE:

Install a NEW fuel pump ring and gasket (2). Ensure the fuel pump housing gasket (2) is properly aligned with the tab upward at the 2 o'clock position.

3 Fuel Pump
NOTE:

To aid installation of the fuel pump, rotate the engine so that the fuel pump lobe of the intake cam is at it's lowest point. Use the EN-50790  alignment gauge to ensure that the camshaft lobe is in the base circle position. At the base circle position, the tool will be flush with the head. Lubricate the high pressure fuel pump cylinder head bore with clean silicone free 5W30 engine oil.

NOTE:

Lubricate the high pressure fuel pump roller with 5W30 engine oil and install into the cylinder head bore. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
