Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Support lower control arm with a jack stand.

  4. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (6-Lug Wheel) , Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (8-Lug Wheel) .
  5. Remove the retaining bolts for the brake hose and the wheel speed sensor brackets.

  7. Remove the wheel drive shaft (4WD only). Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement .
  8. Remove and discard the upper ball joint retaining nut.

  10. Disconnect the upper control arm from the steering knuckle using the J 43631  remover and J 45851  adapters.

  12. Remove the upper control arm nuts and the adjustment cams.
  13. Remove the upper control arm bolts.
  14. Remove the upper control arm.
