Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  3. Remove the radiator air lower baffle and deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Lower Baffle and Deflector Replacement .
  4. Lower the vehicle.

  5. Remove the engine coolant temperature sensor connector. Refer to Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Replacement .
  6. Remove the bank 2 knock sensor. Refer to Knock Sensor Replacement - Bank 2 .
  7. Remove the starter heat shield fastener (1) and the starter heat shield (2).

  8. Disconnect the battery positive cable fastener (1), from the starter.
  9. Remove the battery positive cable (3) from the starter.

  10. Remove the top starter mounting fastener (1) and reposition the starter.
  11. Disconnect the engine harness connector and remove the lower starter fastener (1).
  12. Remove the starter (2).
