Installation Procedure

  1. Route the battery positive and negative cable (1) into the front engine compartment.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  3. Install the battery negative cable ground terminal (2) to the upper tie bar and tighten the fastener (1) to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
  4. Install the battery positive cable terminal (4) to the underhood fuse block stud (1) and tighten the fastener (3) to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
  5. Install the underhood fuse block cover.

  7. Connect the battery positive cable clamp (1) to the battery post and reinstall the protective boot.

  9. Connect the battery current sensor connector (1) and the instrument panel harness connector (2).

  11. Install the battery positive terminal (3) to the back of the generator and tighten the fastener (2) to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
  12. Install the protective boot onto the generator stud.

  14. Install the battery negative cable terminal (4) and the stud (3) to the engine block. Tighten the stud (3) to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
  15. Install the engine harness terminal (2) to the stud (3) and tighten the fastener (1) to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  17. Install the battery positive terminal (2) to the starter and tighten the fastener (1) to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  19. Install the starter heat shield (2) and tighten the fastener (1) to 5 N.m (44 lb in).
  20. Connect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.
  21. Install the air conditioning compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement .
  22. Install the radiator air lower baffle and deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Lower Baffle and Deflector Replacement .
  23. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
