Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the steering angle sensor.
- Ignition OFF, scan tool disconnected, all vehicle systems OFF, this may take up to 2 minutes, test for less than 10 Ω between the low reference circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test for an open/high resistance in the low reference circuit. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the EBCM.
- Ignition ON, test for less than 1 V between the EBCM Bus- communication terminal 33 and ground.
- If greater than the specified value, test the communication circuit for a short to voltage.
- Test for less than 1 V between the EBCM Bus- communication circuit terminal 21 and ground.
- If greater than the specified value, test the communication circuit for a short to voltage.
- Ignition OFF, test for infinite resistance between the EBCM Bus- communication circuit terminal 33 and ground.
- If not the specified value, test the communication circuit for a short to ground.
- Test for infinite resistance between the EBCM Bus- communication circuit terminal 21 and ground.
- If not the specified value, test the communication circuit for a short to ground.
- Test for less than 1 Ω of resistance between the EBCM communication circuit terminal 33 and Yaw Lateral Accelerometer Sensor terminal 2.
- If greater than the specified range, test the communication circuits for an open/high resistance.
- Test for less than 1 Ω of resistance between the EBCM communication circuit terminal 21 and Yaw Lateral Accelerometer terminal 3.
- If greater than the specified range, test the communication circuits for an open/high resistance.
- Test for infinite resistance between the EBCM communication circuit terminal 21 and terminal 33.
- If not the specified value, test the communication circuits for a short together.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the steering wheel position sensor.
