Removal Procedure

    NOTE:

    When removing or replacing the hood window, replace the seal.

    NOTE:

    Do not use glass cleaner on the transparent hood window.

  1. Special care is necessary when cleaning the hood window:
  2. Do not use abrasive cleaning materials.
  3. Clean the transparent hood window with only lukewarm or cold water only, wipe the panel with a soft, lint-free cloth.
  4. If water drops are frequently allowed to dry on the panel, impurities in the water will adhere to the window. These impurities may etch or mar the finish. When the panel gets wet, dry it off with a soft, lint-free cloth.
  5. NOTE:

    To avoid damage to the painted surfaces of the hood and hood window performed this procedure from the underside of the hood.

    NOTE:

    Before cutting out the hood window, apply a double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the inner and outer painted surfaces of the hood.

  6. Remove the hood. Refer to Hood Replacement .
  7. Place the hood on a proper stand to remove the window.

    WARNING:

    Refer to Eye Protection Warning .

    NOTE:

    Keep the cutting edge of the tool against the hood window.

  9. Remove the hood window (1) from the urethane adhesive.
    • Leave a base of urethane approximately 2 mm (0.078 in) on the hood flange.
    • The only suitable lubrication is clear water.
    • Use J-39032  Removal Tool , or equivalent to remove the window.
  10. Remove the window.
