Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2011 Chevrolet Volt. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Disconnect the harness connector at the S38 ignition mode switch.
- Test for less than 5 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 4 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Connect a test lamp between the backlight control circuit of S38 ignition mode switch terminal 8 and ground.
- Close the drivers door and wait 30 seconds. Open drivers door and verify the test lamp flashes.
- If the test lamp does not flash, test the control circuit for an open/high resistance or short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the S38 ignition mode switch.
