Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition ON, verify that DTC C0035, C0040, C0045, or C0050 is not set.
- Ignition ON, verify that DTC C0186, C0196, and C0287 is not set.
- Ignition ON, verify that DTC C0710 4B is not present.
- Inspect the B99 steering wheel angle sensor for correct installation.
- If loose or incorrect installation is diagnosed, correct the installation of the component.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the B99 steering wheel angle sensor.
- Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF. It may take up to 2 minutes for all vehicle systems to power down. Test for less than 10 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 6 and ground.
- If greater than the specified value, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, test for greater than 11 V between the 12 V reference circuit terminal 5 and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the 12 V reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K17 EBCM.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the B99 steering wheel angle sensor and verify the DTC does not reset. If the DTC resets, replace the K17 EBCM.
