Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Remove the windshield wiper transmission assembly. Refer to Windshield Wiper Transmission Replacement .
  2. Remove the crank arm nut then arm.

CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .

Tighten:  32 N.m (24 lb ft)

2 Wiper Motor Crank Arm

Procedure

  1. Using a J-39232:  separator or equivalent, disconnect the wiper linkage ball sockets (a) from the wiper transmission linkage (b) when removing.
  2. Using a J-39529:  installer or equivalent, connect the wiper linkage ball sockets (a) to the wipers transmission linkage (b) when reinstalling.
  3. When aligning the transmission, ensure both the drive arm (a) and the driven arm (b) are in alignment with each other as shown prior to installing the wiper module into the plenum.

Special Tools

  • J-39232:  Wiper Linkage Separator
  • J-39529:  Wiper Linkage Installer

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .
3 Windshield Wiper Motor Bolt (Qty: 3)

Tighten:  5.5 N.m (49 lb in)

4 Windshield Wiper Motor
Tip:  The new wiper motor will come pre-timed from the factory. Do not electrically charge the new motor unless the old motor is being re-installed.
