Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the automatic transmission shift lever.
- Test for less than 30 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 3 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition OFF, connect the harness connector at the automatic transmission shift lever.
- Disconnect the harness connector at the ignition lock cylinder control solenoid.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition voltage circuit terminal A and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, with the gear shift selector in the PARK position, verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the control circuit terminal B and the ignition circuit terminal A.
- If the test lamp illuminates, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the automatic transmission shift lever.
- With the gear shift selector in any position except the PARK position, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the control circuit terminal A and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, test or replace the automatic transmission shift lever.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the ignition lock cylinder control solenoid.
