Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the stop lamp switch.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal 3 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Ignition OFF, connect the harness connector at the stop lamp switch. Disconnect the harness connector at the automatic transmission shift lock actuator.
- Test for less than 1Ω between the ground circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 4 and ground.
- Observe the test light while applying and releasing the brake pedal. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when applying and releasing the brake pedal.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the stop lamp switch.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the stop lamp switch.
- Test for less than 1Ω between the control circuit terminal 3 and the control circuit terminal 1.
- If greater than the specified range, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- If all circuit tests normal, replace the automatic transmission shift lock actuator.
