Windshield Frame Weatherstrip Replacement

Procedure

  1. Open the driver and passenger side doors.
  2. Remove the roof lift off panel (coupe) or lower the top (convertible).
1 Windshield Frame Weatherstrip Screws (Qty :2)
CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .

Procedure: 
Remove the upper LH/RH corner screws from the weatherstrip.

Tighten:  Tighten the windshield weatherstrip top corner screws to 3.4 N.m (30 lb in).

2 Windshield Frame Weatherstrip Retainers (Qty :4)
Procedure: 
Remove the push in retainers from the weatherstrip, located at the base of the windshield pillars.
3 Windshield Frame Weatherstrip Upper Corner Sealer
Procedure: 
Clean the inside of the retainer and surface with a 50/50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol and water by volume on a dampened lint free cloth.
4 Windshield Frame Weatherstrip Lower Pillar Sealer
Procedure: 
Clean the inside of the retainer and surface with a 50/50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol and water by volume on a dampened lint free cloth.
5 Windshield Frame Weatherstrip

Procedure

  1. Apply a bead of sealant GM P/N 12345097, or equivalent, on the windshield header from 75 mm (3 in) beyond the latches to the corner of the header.
  2. Install a glob of sealant across the top of the side retainers.
  3. Peel the protective film from the foam tape on the sides of the new weatherstrip, or install two sided tape to the sides of a reused weatherstrip.
  4. Insert the weatherstrip into the upper retainer starting in the center and working outwards and down the sides.
