Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and 2006 Chevrolet Impala. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the TCM and the (C1) harness connector at the ECM.
- Connect a test lamp between the signal circuit terminal 42 of the TCM and ground.
- Engine ON, press and release the brake pedal. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when pressing and releasing the brake pedal.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit test normal, replace the BCM.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit test normal, replace the BCM.
- Ignition OFF, connect the harness connector at the TCM.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the headlamp switch.
- With LS4 -- terminal 7
- With LZE, LZ4, or LZ8 -- terminal 9
