Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Gasoline Engines ) or Cooling System Draining and Filling (Diesel Engine) .
  2. Remove the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement .
  3. Remove the spark plug wires.
  4. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve and the coolant temperature sensor (CTS) electrical connectors.
  5. Remove the heater return hose at the EGR valve adapter valve.

  6. Remove the EGR valve adapter bolts.
  7. Remove the EGR valve adapter and gasket.
