Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF and the MAIN fuse removed, disconnect the harness connector at the turbocharger boost control solenoid.
- Test for less than 5 ohms of resistance between the ground circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, repair the open/high resistance in the ground circuit.
- Install the MAIN fuse. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition voltage circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition voltage circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the ignition voltage circuit fuse is open, test all components connected to the ignition 1 voltage circuit and replace as necessary.
- Test for 3-4 volts between the control circuit terminal 4 and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the control circuit for an open or a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- If greater than the specified range, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 4 and the ignition voltage circuit terminal 1.
- Clear the DTC information parameter with a scan tool. Command the turbocharger boost control solenoid between 5-95 percent with a scan tool. The test lamp should illuminate brightly at 5%, and decrease up to 95%.
- If the test lamp does not respond to the scan tool commands replace the ECM.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the turbocharger.
