Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the exhaust tail pipe flow control valve solenoid connector.
  2. Ignition ON, measure for 0 volts between the exhaust tail pipe flow control valve solenoid supply voltage circuit terminal 2 and ground.
    • If over 0 volts, test the supply voltage circuit terminal 2 for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the exhaust tail pipe flow valve control module.
  3. Ignition ON, use scan tool to command exhaust flow control relay ON, measure for greater than 10 volts between the supply voltage circuit terminal 2 and ground.
    • If less than the specified range, test the supply voltage circuit terminal 2 for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the exhaust tail pipe flow valve control module.
  4. If all circuits test normal, replace the exhaust tail pipe flow valve solenoid.
