Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Cadillac DTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition ON, verify DTC P0615 is set as current.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the starter relay, test for 75-95 ohms between relay terminals 85 and 86.
- If not within the specified range, replace the starter relay.
- Ignition OFF, verify a test lamp illuminates between B+ and the relay ground circuit terminal 85.
- If the test lamp did not illuminate, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition OFF, connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 86 and the ground circuit terminal 85. Turn the ignition to the start position. The test lamp should only illuminate when the ignition is held in the start position.
- If the test lamp is always On, test the control circuit for short to voltage.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
If the circuit tests normal replace the ECM.
