Removal Procedure

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution .
  1. Remove the fan shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Upper Shroud Replacement (4.3L, 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, 6.2L, 7.0L) or Engine Coolant Fan Upper Shroud Replacement (6.6L) .
  2. Disconnect the auxiliary generator electrical connector.
  3. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .

  4. Remove the positive battery cable from the auxiliary generator, perform the following:
    1. Slide the boot (4) down to access the terminal stud.
    2. Remove the positive cable nut (1).
    3. Remove the positive cable.

  5. Remove the auxiliary generator bolts (3).
  6. Remove the auxiliary generator (4).

  7. Remove the auxiliary generator bracket bolts.
  8. Remove the auxiliary generator bracket.
