Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Replacement

Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Replacement

Callout Component Name
CAUTION: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution .
NOTE: Always connect or disconnect the wiring harness connector from the EBCM/EBTCM with the ignition switch in the OFF position. Failure to observe this precaution could result in damage to the EBCM/EBTCM.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. If equipped with the 3.5L engine, remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  3. If equipped with the 3.9L engine, remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  4. If equipped with the 5.3L engine, remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  5. Clean the electronic brake control module (EBCM) to brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) area and the brake pipe fitting areas of any accumulated dirt and foreign material.
1 Connector, EBCM Electrical
2 Fittings, Brake Pipe (Qty: 6)
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

Tighten:  24 N.m (18 lb ft)


Tip: 
  • Note the location and routing of the brake pipes as an aid to installation.
  • Cap the brake pipe fittings and plug the brake pressure modulator inlet/outlet ports to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
3 Bolt, EBCM Mounting

Tighten:  10 N.m (89 lb in)

4 Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV)
Tip:
