Installation Procedure

  1. If equipped with a manual transaxle, perform the following steps, install the positive/negative battery cable (3) to the starter.
  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  3. Install the starter solenoid nut (4).

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).

  4. Install the positive/negative cable ground terminal (2) to the transaxle stud.
  5. Install the positive/negative battery cable ground nut (1).

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  7. If equipped with a automatic transaxle, perform the following steps, install the positive/negative battery cable (3) to the starter.
  8. Install the starter solenoid nut (4).

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).

  9. Install the positive/negative cable ground terminal (1) to the transaxle stud.
  10. Install the positive/negative battery cable ground nut (2).

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  11. Lower the vehicle.

  13. Install the positive/negative battery cable clip (6) to the ECM/TCM bracket.
  14. Install the positive/negative ground terminal (4) to the tie bar stud.
  15. Install the positive/negative ground nut (3) to the tie bar stud.
  16. Install the positive/negative battery cable terminal (2) to the junction block terminal stud.
  17. Install the junction block terminal nut (1).

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

  18. Close the junction block terminal cover.
  19. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
