Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Saturn L300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. If replacing the support assembly, install the lower control arm. Refer to Rear Axle Lower Control Arm Replacement in Rear Suspension.
  2. If replacing the support assembly, install the upper control arm. Refer to Rear Axle Upper Control Arm Replacement in Rear Suspension.
  3. Position the rear suspension support to the vehicle, using a suitable support stand.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  5. Install new rear suspension support to body mounting bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 90 N.m (66 lb ft) plus an additional 90 to 105 degrees.

  6. Remove the support stand.

  8. Install the knuckle assembly to the upper and lower rear suspension control arms using new nuts and bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 90 N.m (66 lb ft) plus an additional 60 to 75 degrees.

  10. Install the stabilizer links to the rear axle trailing arm.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 55 N.m (41 lb ft).

  12. Install the fuel tank heat shield from the rear suspension support. Refer to Fuel Tank Heat Shield Replacement in Engine Exhaust.

  14. Install the rear exhaust and muffler. Refer to Resonator Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
  15. Install the rear tire assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  16. Lower the vehicle.
