Test Description

The number below refers to the step number on the diagnostic table.

  1. 2:  This step tests for an internal EBCM malfunction.

Schematic Reference:  ABS Schematics  
Connector End View Reference:  ABS Connector End Views   or  Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console Connector End Views  in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console 
1 Did you perform the ABS Diagnostic System Check? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - ABS 
  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the electronic brake control module (EBCM) electrical connector.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Is the TCS warning indicator ON?
Go to Step 3  Go to Step 5 
3 Test the TCS warning indicator control circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 6  Go to Step 4 
4 Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 6  -
5 Replace the EBCM. Refer to Brake Modulator Assembly Replacement .
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 6  -
6 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you complete the repair?
System OK Go to Step 2
