Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure .
- Disconnect the positive battery cable.
- Remove the ground wire bolt and the ground wire from the frame.
- Remove the remote positive stud cover
- Remove the positive cable junction block lead nut (1).
- Remove the positive battery cable (2) from the underhood accessory wiring junction block.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Remove the front lower air deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Baffle and Deflector Replacement - Lower in Engine Cooling.
- Remove the transaxle stud nut and the ground wire from the transaxle stud.
- Remove the positive battery cable nut (8) from the starter motor BAT terminal.
- Remove the positive battery cable (9) from the starter motor BAT terminal.
- Unclip and remove the battery cable harness from the retainers (2,3,4).
- Remove the battery cable harness from the vehicle.
- Remove the negative battery cable from the wiring harness conduit.
IMPORTANT:
When replacing battery cables be sure to use replacement cables that are the same type, gage and length.
