Removal Procedure

Replace the entire converter assembly in order to properly service the 3-way catalytic converter.

1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Disconnect the Heated Oxygen Sensor connector. Refer toHeated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Position 1 in Engine Controls
3. Remove the exhaust manifold pipe nuts from the exhaust manifold pipe studs.

4. Remove the catalytic converter nuts from the exhaust pipe.
5. Remove the 3-way catalytic converter.
