Installation Procedure

  1. Install the SDM (5) into the vehicle, taking care to ensure that the arrow is pointing toward the front of the vehicle.
    2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Install the SDM fasteners (1,2).

    Tighten:  Tighten the fasteners to 5 N.m (4.5 lb ft).

  3. Install the electrical connector and install the CPA (6).

  4. Install the center console and then install the rear console (1). Refer to Console Replacement - Front Floor or Console Replacement - Rear Floor in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
    5. IMPORTANT: The AIR BAG indicator may remain ON after the SDM has been replaced. DTC B1001 may set requiring the SDM part number to be set in multiple modules. If the indicator remains ON after enabling the SIR system, perform the diagnostic system check and follow the steps thoroughly to ensure that the SDM is set properly.
  5. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 8 .
